Cineastas por Palestina
A filmmakers’ collective in Chile. Cycles, screenings and talks on Palestinian cinema.
The Cineastas por Palestina collective aims to use cinema as a tool for resistance, memory and solidarity. It seeks to bring visibility to Palestinian narratives — classic and contemporary, fiction and documentary — that are often ignored or censored in mainstream circuits.
The collective came together spontaneously after the events of October 2023, out of an urgent need to respond to the crisis and the conflict in Gaza through culture.
It has organized film cycles, programmes of short and feature films, and cine-forums in various cultural spaces and cinemas across Chile, working alongside collectives such as Artistas por Palestina.
The collective currently runs a monthly cine club at La Cafebrería, Santiago, Chile, opening up a programme of Palestinian films and a space for conversation. The films it shows work to move away from conventional cinematic language — a cinema that can be difficult to access.
